Dr Saud Al-Ammari is Minister Plenipotentiary & Head of Legal Affairs at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in London where he oversees legal affairs and represents the Kingdom’s legal interests in the UK and Ireland.
Dr Al-Ammari was educated in Saudi Arabia and the United States where he practised law for some years before returning to the Kingdom to work as an in-house legal counsel with Saudi Aramco. From 1995-2003, he was legal adviser to the Minister of Petroleum before becoming General Counsel at the same Ministry and member of the Kingdom’s delegation to OPEC. During this period, he was a member of the Kingdom’s Negotiating Team, formed for the implementation of the Kingdom’s Natural Gas Initiative, Chairman of OPEC Legal Defense Team, member of the WTO Energy Services Team at the Ministry of Petroleum and Legal Counsel and member of the Kingdom’s WTO Accession delegation. In addition, he represented the Kingdom in several significant legal proceedings in the U.S. and the U.K. Between July 2003 to March 2006, he was General Attorney for Saudi Aramco.
Dr Al-Ammari has a BA in International Relations from the American University in Washington DC , a JD from South Texas College of Law, and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School.
In 2001, Dr Al Ammari was awarded King Abdulaziz Award (First Order) for Achievements and National Contributions.
