Mr Abdulmomen Bin Mohammed Sharaf took up his appointment as Deputy Head of Mission at the Saudi Embassy in London in November 2016. He was previously Minister Plenipotentiary at the embassy in London and Head of the Economics and Cultural Section from August 2013.
Prior to that Mr Sharaf was Chargé d’Affaires at the Saudi Embassy in Athens (September 2010 to August 2013) and Head of the Economics and Cultural Section in Athens (February 2009 to September 2010). He has previously served in Saudi missions in Austria, Nigeria and Egypt.
Mr Sharaf has held a number of posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom, including Head of Department for Asian countries at the Directorate for Bilateral Economic Relations and Special Secretary to the Deputy Minister for Economic and Cultural Affairs. He was Director of the GCC Department in the economic and cultural branch of the Directorate for International Economic Relations.
Mr Sharaf joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1983 after studying Economics and Political Science at the University of King Abdulaziz in Jeddah.
Mr Sharaf speaks Arabic and English. He is married and has two children.
