Celebrating outstanding work during lock-down

We are showcasing some of the outstanding work that has been produced by our Upper School pupils at home during lock-down.  We will be displaying new work in different subjects each week.  This week the subjects are Science and PE.  Congratulations to the chosen pupils and well done on the amazing effort they put into their school work.

Visit of Author, Gareth P. Jones

The King Fahad Academy was delighted to welcome renowned children’s author, Gareth P. Jones, on Tuesday 4th February. Gareth P. Jones is a winner of the Blue Peter Book Award, and a talented minstrel who uses the piano and the banjo as tools of storytelling. Similar to Primary our grades 6, 7 and 8 enjoyed Gareth’s lively interactive performances, which combined storytelling with irreverent humour, unbridled energy and original songs inspired by his books. Gareth answered students’ questions and offered advice on what it takes to be a good writer, concluding with the inspirational statement that anyone can be a writer – all you need is an idea. At the end of the day, students had the opportunity to individually meet the author, purchase his books, and get their copies signed and personally dedicated. The visit inspired our students to write their own stories on topics as varied as death and ice-cream! We thank Ms Nadia for organising this fantastic event.

Changes to the School Curriculum

The King Fahad Academy has been working with the Board of Trustees to ensure the continuing improvement and high performance of the Academy.

As part of this process, we have undertaken a review of the school’s curriculum. This review was not only conducted in light of the new Ofsted inspection framework, but also to ensure it continues to align with the Academy’s founding statement; to “operate in accordance with the highest standards of Muslim and English educational practice”.

In order to ensure that our curricular provision best serves the needs of our pupils and is in accordance with the requirements prescribed by our regulator, we will therefore be making some changes to the curriculum.
